The use of diesel-fueled cars is gaining momentum in the United States. The giant U.S. car manufacturer General Motors, also took part and will assemble the Chevrolet Cruze diesel version to complete the line-up of the Cruze in 2013.
Cruze himself became one of GM’s most popular products. Total U.S. sales in June reached 24,896 units, and average sales in the last five months to reach 20 thousand units.
Chevrolet Cruze diesel will join the Eco, with a standard six-speed manual transmission. GM Cruze Eco claims as are the vehicles gas-powered/non-hybrid most fuel-efficient, with EPA average 42mpg on the highway.
"General Motors has become a global leader in diesel engine technology and this announcement is great news for American consumers. We can predict the Cruze Diesel will score big hits in the U.S.," says Allen Schaeffer, Executive Director of Diesel Technology Forum.
